for the care of our home

The bond that gives essence to the personification of Transeuntis Mundi is its intimate relationship with its home: Pachamama, Mother Earth – which, with all devotion and propriety, we should call our home.

The Greeks used the word Oikos to name their home and, with this word, they not only referred to the physical space, but also sought to describe the act of inhabiting and managing the home – that unique space where the fire warms the intimacy, where food is prepared and protection and shelter are offered to those who take a break there on their journey. This information is something that we have today appropriated to use as a radical in such relevant concepts as ecology and economy, terms that have been proposed as adversaries. Without a doubt, it is an exercise in awareness about the intrinsic relationship between caring for the home and caring for oneself. In both concepts, resource management and interactions become the key to individual and collective well-being – an evidence that can no longer be considered abstract, as it becomes urgent due to the effects of global climate change, diseases, contamination of water sources, the dispute over natural resources and other issues on which human survival depends.

That is why Deriva Oikos accompanies the itineraries of Transeuntis Mundi; it does so while recording some of the places where, in addition to leaving its mark, it displays its power of transformation and, consequently, also faces the responsibility that falls to it in the management of resources and health. A journey transformed into reality and that we can share thanks to the mediations of the metaverse.

Deriva Oikos proposes an experience that has the mission of inducing reflection, participation and collective creation. It uses an approach through empathy, by making us realize that, in fact, we are all Transeuntis Mundi and that what we are witnessing is the result of the journeys of our ancestors. A confluence that necessarily leads to taking a stand, to action. And the first step to taking action is to recognize the bond between us who share the experience of inhabiting the house that shelters us and our home-body, a legacy of the biological evolution of the species that we also share.

The immersion in the different realities of other Transeuntis Mundi, transformed into spectators of the minimal stories that make up everyday life in the most distant places, shows us how much we are alike, despite being protagonists of such different realities. A sum of stories that, together, build human history.

Creativity and sensitivity contribute to the Transeuntis Mundi’s ability to imagine and realize all possible versions of the world. For this very reason, they give us the power to collectively reinvent the inhabitation of our bodies, territories and cities and, ultimately, to renew the pact of care for our home and our health. “That small blue dot in the vast universe” (in the words of Carl Sagan), which is the only scenario of the present and that will make the future possible for Transeuntis Mundi.
